The Montana Flyfishing Center is located in the
center of the Bitterroot Valley in Hamilton,
Montana. This makes us a true “destination” fly
shop. As such we stock everything required for
the traveling fly fisher. We won’t try to list
our inventory, but will assure you that we stock
virtually everything required to make your trip
a success. In addition Richard (Dick) Galli has
been building custom fishing rods for over a
half century. R. Galli rods, (Montana Custom
Rods-Montana Custom Fly Rods),are available
in all materials and most brand blanks. Dick
prides himself with his quality of work and will
not allow a dissatisfied customer. The guide
series is 51million modulus graphite from 7foot
3 weight thru 9 foot 12 weight and 12 thru 15
foot spey rods. The pack series which includes
3,4,5,6 & 7 piece configurations from very
fast to delicate dry fly actions and his real
pride the bamboo (cane) rod series. These
bamboo rods are as nice as anything on the
market at four times the price. The current
list of cane rods include:

6’ 9” 4 weight
7’ 0” 4 weight
7’ 6” 5 weight

All cane rods include 2 tips, a cloth bag, and
aluminum tube. When assembling a cane rod the
customer must work with Dick to assure
component selection, color combinations, cork,
fit, and alpha/numeric designations to be
placed on the rod. These rods are very
personal to each individual and must be
designed as such. The basic cane rod starts at
$525.00 and even with agate stripping guides
and exotic woods the cost seldom exceeds
$1,000.00. Cane rods are not only a pride to
own, but also a real pleasure to fish.
